Theodore B.Hubbard, P.E. - P.S.

Forward

While writing this account for the "Lost Bridges" of the past, I thought of the pioneers who forded the stream here, long before a bridge was ever dreamed of.  I thought of the men who strived to make this place a safe crossing for their neighbors.  I envision the day when the first bridge opened at the site.  In my mind's eye, I saw how families watched in grateful anticipation as later spans were rising, and sensed the joy and relief travelers felt when each new bridge was completed.  The bridges and bridge builders of yesterday must be remembered.
Now another bridge is opening.  History is repeating itself.  Families are experiencing that same sense of appreciation felt by travelers in earlier days.  They are grateful to be regaining what, for a time, had been lost.  The new bridge will make their way shorter, their road lighter.

Like its predecessor, the third "Lost Bridge", this one also is built to last.  It will be carrying passengers over the river for years to come.  Much thanks is due the leaders and builders who have made this bridge possible.
