These presentations are the result of road
surveys completed by the Hamilton County Engineer's Office in the early
part of the last century. They are photographs taken at specific
points along the roadway. When these photos are arranged in a
slide presentation, the viewer is 'driving' on a road that existed 70
years ago. It can be shocking to see the intersection of Banning
Road and Colerain Avenue when it was still 'out in the country'.
We hope you enjoy your visit to the past.
These Time Machines will probably look best
using Netscape Navigator 4x or Internet Explorer 4x or newer at 800 x
600 resolution. When the presentation first
runs, you will see a list of the slides along the left side and a
toolbar at the bottom of your screen. To watch a full screen, self
timed presentation, click on the little 'projection screen' icon on the
right side of the toolbar. The slides will cycle every 10 seconds
or you can just click your mouse to change them manually. 'Esc'
will end the slideshow.
You
can also download the Time Machines. They are .zip files so you
will need some kind of unzip utility to expand them. Create a
folder and give it the name of the road you downloaded. After you
unzip the file into that folder, double click
on the <roadname>.htm file to start the presentation.
