Richard A. Bernat

Judge Bernat is a
Cincinnati native having graduated from
Finneytown
High School.
He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the
University
of Texas at Austin and his Juris
Doctor Degree from the Chase College of Law,
Northern
Kentucky
University.
He practiced law in the Cincinnati area for
over 20 years.
He was elected to the Northwest Board of Education in 1985 and
served on the Board to the end of his term in 1989.
He was appointed to the Hamilton County Board of Zoning
Appeals in 1990 and served in that position until November of 1994.
In 1996 he was appointed as Magistrate in the Court of
Common Pleas Hamilton County.
He was later the Chief Magistrate of the Court of Common
Pleas for
Hamilton
County
until December of 2006 when he was appointed Judge of the Hamilton County
Municipal Court.
Judge Bernat comes to the bench with a wealth of experience from
Common Pleas
Court having presided over a large
number of jury trials during his time there.
Judge Bernat was also active teaching courses for the
Ohio Association of Magistrates and the
Ohio Judicial
College.
Judge Bernat has written articles for the Ohio Lawyer
Magazine and has been a frequent speaker to Bar groups.
