All Other Fines

If you are not required to pay fines and court costs through probation, fines and costs may be paid in person or by mail through the Clerk of Courts. To pay in person go to the Clerk's office, room 111, Justice Center, 1000 Sycamore St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. This office is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Fines and costs paid in person may be paid by cash, check, money order, Visa or Master Card. To pay by mail, send a check or money order, but please do not send cash. Be sure the check or money order is payable to the "Clerk of Courts." Also be sure you clearly mark on the check or money order what ticket or case number the payment is for and mail the payment to:

Clerk of Courts
1000 Sycamore St., Room 112  Cincinnati, Ohio 4520

If you are paying a traffic ticket, please carefully follow the instructions on the payout schedule given to you with the ticket to determine the correct amount to pay. Keep in mind that the clerk's office must receive your payment by the due date stated on the ticket for the amount paid to be considered correct and paid on time.

Stay to Pay: When a court imposes a fine, it often will allow the fine and costs to be paid on a later date by granting a "stay to pay." If so, the fine and costs may be paid anytime before, or on, the stay date the same way All Other Fines are paid.  If the amount due is not paid and the defendant does not appear in court on the stay date, the judge can be expected to issue a CAPIAS requiring the arrest and incarceration of the defendant until the fine is paid or "served" in jail at the rate of $30 per day. If you have a CAPIAS outstanding solely because you failed to pay a fine, you can have the CAPIAS canceled by paying the fine the same way All Other Fines are paid. If you chose not to pay the fine, you should expect to be arrested and incarcerated until the fine is paid, or the jail time is done. See also WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T SHOW UP FOR COURT.

The Probation Dept. cashier may be reached by calling (513) 946-9600, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, weekdays. Questions should be addressed to your probation officer.
