STORM SEWER ROAD CONSTRUCTION
PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTION
All plans and construction within the unincorporated areas of Hamilton County
shall comply with the current "Rules and Regulations of Hamilton County Public
Works, Storm Drainage System, effective January 1, 1974, and revised July 17,
1996 and January 17, 2007." Copies of these "Rules and Regulations" are
available at Hamilton County Public Works 138 E Court Street - Room. 800
Cincinnati, Ohio 45202.
All sewer and surface drainage construction to be under the inspection of the
Hamilton county Department of Public Works. Contractor to provide at least two
(2) days advance notice before beginning construction to public works
(946-4761). The contractor will be billed directly by public works at the rate
of $50.00 per hour for all inspection hours worked. The contractor must request
a final inspection of all storm drainage construction a minimum of two (2) weeks
prior to the construction of the final pavement surface course.
Unless otherwise specified, storm sewers shall be Type B conduit with class B
bedding as per 603.04 and storm sewer pipe shall be 706.02, class IV, with
backfill per 603.08.
Unless otherwise specified, storm sewer manholes are to be State of Ohio
Standard No. 1, No. 3 or No. 5 manholes.
All wing wall headwalls shall be Hamilton county Public Works Department
standard Plate 5 wing wall headwalls.
RCP indicates item 601, rock channel protection. The dimensions on the plans
indicate width, length and depth of the rock channel protection. Plans also
indicate the type (size) of rock per ODOT item 601.07.
Compacted fills are to be made to a minimum of three (3) feet above the crown of
any proposed sewer prior to cutting of trenches for placement of said sewers.
All fills shall be controlled, compacted and inspected by an approved testing
laboratory or an inspector from the appropriate governmental agency.
All ground surface areas that have been exposed or left bare as a result of
construction and are to final grade and are to remain so shall be seeded and
mulched as soon as practical in accordance with State of Ohio Specifications
Item 659.
Steps shall be required in all catch basins where the depth exceeds four (4)
feet and shall meet the requirements of the state of Ohio standard construction
drawing MH-1.
The maximum depth of all catch basins, regardless of the depth of the adjacent
manhole,
are to be as follows:
CB-3a, CB2-2a and CB2-2b: four feet, zero inches (4’-0")
CB-3 and CB-3m: six feet, zero inches (6’-0")
CB-3mh: twelve feet, zero inches (12’-0"), maximum depth
With construction of masonry units.
Maximum depth is measured from the invert to the top of grate.
Downspouts shall be connected to gutters, as shown on standard drawing sheet No.
8 of the subdivision regulations of the Hamilton County Engineer or other
approved storm drainage system.
No direct connection of effluent discharge lines shall be permitted to the
public storm system. Where lines are encountered, they are to "open air
discharge" at a minimum distance of eight (8) feet from an inlet.
