Judge Penelope R. Cunningham
Judge Penelope R. Cunningham is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where she received her B.A. in 1984 and her J.D. in 1987. Judge Cunningham was appointed to the Hamilton County Domestic Relations Court in 1995, was elected to that bench in 1996 and re-elected in 2002. She was elected to the First District Court of Appeals in November 2006.
Before being elected to the bench, Judge Cunningham’s professional experience included maintaining a private practice, service as a Referee in the Court of Domestic Relations for more than six years, followed by service as an Assistant Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney. Judge Cunningham is a past officer and Trustee with the Ohio Association of Domestic Relations Judges. She has been a member on the Domestic Relations Law and Procedures Committee for the Ohio Judicial Conference and has served on the Executive Committee of the Ohio Court of Appeals Judges Association. In addition, Judge Cunningham has served on numerous committees and educational panels for the Cincinnati Bar Association, Ohio Judicial College, and National Business Institute. Judge Cunningham currently holds the office of Past Chair for the Mount Notre Dame High School Board of Trustees and is a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association.
Judge Cunningham and her husband, Bill, live in Cincinnati.
