Law Library Provides Cincinnati Business Professionals with Latest Legal Information over the Web

The Cincinnati Law Library has been selected for a pilot program with a major legal publisher that enables Cincinnati-area professionals to have 24 hour access to the latest legal developments. Lawyers, accountants, HR professionals, and business executives can stay up to date using 24 hour remote access to over 80 CCH newsletters.

Cincinnati, OH, (PRWEB) November 16, 2005 -- Professionals in Hamilton County can access the latest legal information in their field, thanks to a pilot program implemented between the Cincinnati Law Library Association and CCH, Inc., a leading provider of legal business, human resources, and tax information. The new program enables members – lawyers, HR directors, accountants, and others - of the Association to access CCH current awareness content remotely, around the clock. Over 80 newsletters provide professionals with the latest legal developments in their fields.

The newsletters are part of the much larger electronic and print collection of CCH materials currently owned by the Law Library. “The CCH business, human resources, and tax databases are extensive and enable the Law Library to provide access to resources that we could not possibly maintain in our print collection because of upkeep costs and the amount of shelf space they would require,” says David Whelan, the Hamilton County Law Librarian. Anyone may join the Law Library Association to use these databases and print resources. But they are only accessible while the Law Library is open.

Now business professionals can access Law Library information around the clock. The pilot program, only available through the Cincinnati Law Library, provides access to the tip of the CCH Business, Human Resources, and Tax group content. Members accessing the newsletters will get the latest developments but will not have remote access to the CCH commentary and primary legal materials cited in the newsletters. However, any member finding a CCH document reference can then visit the Law Library to retrieve it from the Law Library's extensive internal collection. “Our goal is to provide as much access to information as possible, and we understand that information providers like CCH need to balance information access with their business model,” says Whelan. “We are excited to work with CCH, to see if this can be a model for how county law libraries can serve a professional community who might otherwise not be able to afford access to this kind of high-quality, timely content.” The pilot program is available to firms with 15 or fewer lawyers, accountants, or other professionals. Members can connect to the Association’s Web site 24 hours a day, provide their credentials, and be forwarded to the CCH news content.
