The Law Library Membership structure was revised at the 1996 Annual Meeting of the Cincinnati Law Library Association, to be effective January 1, 1997. The new structure includes a Law Firm Membership which will have an impact on the manner in which law firms, legal departments, and multi-attorney associations will be served by the Hamilton County Law Library.

The rule that use of the Library will be limited to members of the Cincinnati Law Library Association, will be strictly enforced. Circulation privileges are reserved for members. Non-members may pay a daily use fee of $5.00, non-attorneys may become non-voting members for $25.00 the first year and $50.00 the second year. Non-attorney members have limited circulation privileges.

Attorneys may become members of the law library in one of two ways:

1) Individual Membership: Each attorney may join as an individual member by paying the annual individual membership dues on or before January 1 of each year. All Library services will be provided in the name of the individual member who will be responsible for all obligations incurred for use of the Library and its facilities; or

2) Law Firm Membership: A law firm, legal department or multi-lawyer association (Law Firm) may purchase a Law Firm Membership by submitting its list of attorneys to the Law Library by December 1 and paying the annual Law Firm Membership dues by January 1, according to the schedule listed below. Each lawyer in the member firm will become a member of the Cincinnati Law Library Association and will have one vote at the Annual Meeting. The member firm may designate law clerks, paralegals and/or law librarians who are authorized to use the Law Library on its behalf. All Library services will be provided in the name of the

member law firm and the member law firm will be responsible for all obligations incurred by its lawyers or designees for use of the Library and its facilities.

Law Firm Membership dues will be based upon the size of the firm as follows:

• 1-14 $50.00 each
• 15-29 $45.00 each
• 30-69 $40.00 each
• 70+ $35.00 each

For your assistance in planning, the Law Library staff will prepare estimated 1997 bills upon request. Specific information including the numbers of attorneys and attorneys newly admitted will be needed to prepare the estimated bill. Please contact Madonna Gresser on 632-8372 for assistance.
