Administrative Appeals:

The magistrate hears Administrative Appeals referred by a number of the Common Pleas Court Judges. These cases are set by the Assignment Commissioner for Scheduling Conference approximately ninety (90) days from date of filing. At the Scheduling Conference, the magistrate expects the parties to discuss a Case Management Order in which the scheduling of the filing of briefs will be set forth. Normally, the magistrate will allow for oral argument if the appellant wishes and it will occur approximately six months from date of original filing. A copy of the court’s typical scheduling order appears in the Forms section of this site. Once, the case has been submitted on the briefs or following oral argument, the magistrate will prepare a Magistrate’s Decision and mail it to counsel of record or the party(ies) if not represented by an attorney.
