Emergency Funding Policy of the
Ohio Public Works Commission

Any jurisdiction wishing to apply for a project using OPWC emergency funds must apply directly to the OPWC for such funding. The District Integrating Committee does not consider emergency funding requests. The following is a policy statement from the OPWC concerning emergency funding requests:
'It is the policy of the Commission that its emergency funds are reserved for projects that arise directly from disaster related situations, involve an immediate threat to public health and safety, and for which there is no alternative way of addressing the emergency through alternative facilities or local resources. Projects that arise from inadequate or non-existing facilities, or those that result from neglect or normal deterioration, do not readily qualify for emergency assistance.'
Concerning projects submitted for OPWC funding in a given funding round and not supported for funding by the local District Integrating Committee, the OPWC policy is as follows:
'Projects which are not evaluated highly at the district level are generally not considered for emergency funding.'
