What’s the Score?
As Great American Ball Park continues to take shape, one of the most
prominent features that passersby can distinguish from the tangle of steel
and concrete is the scoreboard assembly.
Once complete the main scoreboard will dominate the skyline above
left field and although significantly larger than the existing Cinergy
Field board, it will be closer to the field making it appear even more
massive. The
video board section will be a 20mm Saco Smart Vision board, more than 50%
larger than Cinergy’s video board.
The matrix, or text section, also will be larger and allow for
continuous display of pitcher’s statistics as well as the line score. Other
“ribbon” scoreboards throughout the park will allow all fans visual
access to score and pitcher information.
An out-of-town scoreboard in the left field wall will allow for
other game scores to be displayed continuously as well. |

Commemorative
Patch:
The Reds announced earlier this week that the club will feature a Cinergy
Field commemorative patch on its uniform during the 2002 season, the
season before moving into Great American Ball Park.
The patch will be worn on the left sleeve of the Reds’ uniforms
in place of the current “running man” logo.
The new logo will feature a view of the outside of Cinergy Field
with the Roebling Suspension Bridge in the foreground and silhouettes of
several prominent downtown buildings in the background. The
patch is the first of many items and events that will celebrate the
Riverfront Stadium/Cinergy Field era and the transition to Great American
Ball Park. |
