Great American Ball Park Update
Week of October 15

·

·         Construction Schedule Report:  On October 10, project managers presented a Great American Ball Park construction schedule update to the Hamilton County Commissioners at the weekly Commission meeting.

Key Schedule Items:

o        The ball park is on target for an April 2003 Opening Day.

o        The Cincinnati Reds administration building is on target for a November 1, 2002 occupancy.

o        Phase 2 demolition, the demolition of the remainder of Cinergy Field, is scheduled to commence in November of 2002.

o        Phase 2 construction of Great American Ball Park, including the Reds Hall of Fame, Crosley Terrace and completion of the ball park grounds is on target for an April 2004 completion.

·         SBE Numbers Remain Strong:  Project managers also have released a report outlining the level of Small Business Enterprise involvement in the Great American Ball Park project.  As of August 31, 2001, a total of 26.6% of all contracted work had been awarded to small businesses, which includes any minority- and women-owned businesses that also are classified as small businesses.  A further breakdown shows that 12.3% of contracts went to minority-owned businesses and 3.9% to women-owned enterprises.

·         Safety Update:  Through August 31, only two lost work day incidents have been reported for the construction of Great American Ball Park and related projects.  Even with these incidents, the project lost work day incident rate stands at 1.5, well below the national average of 5.4.  Crews have worked nearly 300,000 hours since the last “lost-time” injury.  Prior to this lost time, the combined riverfront projects had logged more than half a million hours without a single lost-time injury.

·         Club Seats Now Available:  The Cincinnati Reds have officially launched the sale of club seats for Great American Ball Park.  The approximately 2,100 club seats are available directly from the Cincinnati Reds.  For more information, please call the Reds’ New Ballpark Development office at (513) 744-2003.
