Great American Ball Park Update
Week of November 5

·         Northeast Corner Takes Shape:  The northeast entrance to Great American Ball Park has reached the point where even casual observers can clearly distinguish the structures of the new park.  Located at the corner of Broadway and Pete Rose Way and adjacent to the Firstar Center, the entrance features wide sloping stairs leading to the terrace level.  Also clearly visible is the completed elevator tower that will eventually house an illuminated Cincinnati Reds logo and decorative signage.

·         Support for Crosley Terrace:  Crews have nearly completed installation of the structural concrete that will support Crosley Terrace – the main entrance to Great American Ball Park.  Pedestrians at the corner of Second and Main will see that the terrace now reaches all the way to the sidewalk.  This area will include walkways, the Crosley Field outfield replica and the bronze statues of Crosley-era greats.

·         Changes in Color:  Below the scoreboard in left field, some of the newly installed steel has been painted white.  This is the first visible portion of the stadium to take on its final color.  Eventually, all exposed steel will be painted this color.

Fun Fact:  An average of three truckloads of steel are delivered and installed every day.   Approximately 217 tons of steel is installed each week. This is enough steel to manufacture 124 cars per week or to construct the facade of the St. Louis Gateway Arch in a single month.

·         Webcam Sees It All:  Perhaps now more than ever the ball park webcam shows the daily construction progress.  The first steel decking of the suite level and the beginnings of the “Gap” are now visible.  The webcam is available on the Hamilton County Web site at www.hamilton-co.org.

·         Community Displays Continue:  The traveling Great American Ball Park display, featuring renderings, construction photos and other pertinent project information continues to tour the community.
