Great American Ball Park Update
Week of December 10

·      Work in Progress: Crews continue to make notable progress in all areas of the ball park. Following are a few of the activities currently underway:

o                   Initial Pouring Near Completion: Concrete placement for the main ball park superstructure is close to completion. Crews will then need to finish pouring concrete for topping slabs, as well as slabs on grades and supported slabs.

o                   Light Tower work underway: Work has begun on the base sections along the north side of the ball park. These triangular metal structures mark the initial sections of the towers, which will support the lighting that will eventually illuminate Great American Ball Park.

o                   Steel for Administration Building Erected:  The first steel columns have been erected for the administration building. The skeleton of the building’s superstructure is seeing its “first pass” and will now progress onto the upper levels. These columns will also be the basis from which the Spirit of Baseball relief sculpture is supported.

Fun Fact: Each steel portal column weighs approximately 2,700 pounds. Altogether, the four steel columns are the same combined weight as nearly 1,000 holiday turkeys!
