Play-By-Play

·         Construction Highlights: Crews continue to make notable progress in all areas of the ball park. Following are highlights of some of the activities currently underway.

°         Administration Building: Initial placement of concrete has begun on what will be the Reds Administration Building. This week, crews completed the first elevated pours for the upper levels of the building.

°         Crosley Terrace: The main entranceway into Great American Ball Park, Crosley Terrace, is beginning to take shape. Fans coming from downtown will be able to walk to the intersection of Main and Second streets and directly into the park through Crosley Terrace. This street level entrance is another feature that differentiates the GABP from Cinergy Field as fans will no longer need to climb a series of steps to enter the ball park.

°         Service Level: Interior work continues to form rooms and corridors. The main press conference room is starting to take shape, as are several other media accessible areas.

°         Worker Access: What was once an open access area for incoming vehicles has been enclosed by construction of the batter’s eye area of the new ball park. Vehicles coming from Mehring Way now must enter the construction area through a structure that will eventually become the visitor’s bullpen.

Reds 2002 Schedule Announced: The Cincinnati Reds have released their 2002 regular season schedule. For access to the complete schedule, please visit www.cincinnatireds.com. The following are some of the highlights:

°         The final Opening Day game at Cinergy Field is scheduled for April 1 against the Chicago Cubs.

°         The last night game will take place on September 21 against the Philadelphia Phillies.

°         The Reds will play the Phillies in the final regular season home game at Cinergy Field on September 22.

Fun Facts:

°         The Reds will play host to the Chicago Cubs in their last season opener at Cinergy Field. Ironically, the Chicago Cubs also happened to be the Reds’ opponent in their first season opener at Redland Field (which eventually evolved into Crosley Field) on April 11, 1912.

°         The Reds play the Philadelphia Phillies in their last night game at Cinergy Field. The Reds played their first night game ever on May 24, 1935 . . . against the Philadelphia Phillies.
