March 15, 2002

Play-By-Play

·         Quarterly Media Tour – The media will have one last chance to obtain sound, B-roll, interviews and photographs of Great American Ball Park before Opening Day 2002. At 1:00 p.m. on March 20, project managers will answer questions, conduct a site tour and deliver a progress briefing of Great American Ball Park.

·         Brick Program Update – The contest has already become an overwhelming success in the Greater Cincinnati area. Through March 14, Hamilton County has received more than 2,000 entries.

The contest gives 100 people the opportunity to immortalize themselves at the ball park by having their name and/or message inscribed on a brick that will be permanently paved into the ball park’s main concourse. Entries will be collected through April 1, and the winning entries will be drawn on Wednesday, April 3. The month-long drawing is open to the public and there is no charge to participate. Those who wish to participate in the contest this week can do so at the following locations:

°         Northgate Mall, 9501 Colerain Ave

°         Kenwood Towne Center, 7875 Montgomery Road

Entries also are being taken at the Hamilton County Web site, www.hamilton-co.org/gabp.

Fun Fact – Mike Carnevale Tile & Terrazo Co., Inc. is responsible for purchasing and installing all brick pavers on the job. There will be four men installing approximately 68,000 brick pavers. The four-color “Whitacre Greer” brick pavers are made of clay and range from 8”x 8” and 4”x 8” in size.

Carnevale is well known throughout Cincinnati for installing pavers at Sawyer’s Point. They have also paved Fountain Square, the streets by Procter & Gamble, the Steamboat Monument and about 80% of the city’s sidewalks. In addition, Carnevale installed the granite pavers at Government Square.

·         Model Appearance – The Great American Ball Park architectural model will be on display at the Dugout Shop, 21 East Fifth Street, through March 22.
