Play-By-Play

·         Construction News – The quarterly media tour gave media the opportunity to obtain sound, photographs and b-roll, and conduct interviews with project directors. Those attending were able to witness the evolution of Great American Ball Park first hand. It is evident that a great deal of progress has been made throughout the entire ball park. The following are some highlights from the tour:

°         The administration building is coming along rather quickly. Initial architectural pre-cast and brickwork has begun.

°         Crosley Terrace is currently being used as a staging area for trucks and materials. However, it is clearly visible that the main entranceway to the park will be at street level. Fans will be able to walk directly into the park from Main Street.

°         The pedestrian access ramp from the main concourse is in place.

°         The Gap and its bridges are quickly becoming the signature piece of the ball park. Fans standing on one of the bridges of the Gap can look directly down Sycamore Street from this location.

·         Brick Program Update – With the contest winding down, fans now have only one week left to register and possibly win the chance to have their name inscribed at Great American Ball Park.

The contest gives 100 people the opportunity to immortalize themselves at the ball park by having their name and/or message inscribed on a brick that will be permanently paved into the ball park’s main concourse. Entries will be collected through April 1, and the winning entries will be drawn on Wednesday, April 3. The month-long contest is open to the public and there is no charge to participate. Those who wish to participate in the contest this week can do so at the following locations:

°         Northgate Mall, 9501 Colerain Ave

°         Kenwood Towne Center, 7875 Montgomery Road

Fans also may enter the contest at the Hamilton County Web site at  www.hamilton-co.org/gabp.

·         Keeping Score – The steel framework for the main scoreboard has been completed.  The frame towers over the eastern edge of the job site adjacent to the Firstar center.

Fun Fact: The dimensions of the main scoreboard at Great American Ball Park will be 68’0” high by 217’9” wide.  In Major league Baseball, only the Detroit Tigers’ Comerica Park and the Colorado Rockies’ Coors Field are larger.

·         Model Appearances – The Great American Ball Park architectural model will be on display at the Dugout Shop, 21 East Fifth Street, through March 29.  The model also will be displayed in an information tent outside Gate 3 of Cinergy Field prior to the game on Opening Day.
