Play-By-Play

Construction News: The quarterly media tour gave media the opportunity to obtain sound, photographs and b-roll, and conduct interviews with project directors. Those attending were able to witness the evolution of Great American Ball Park first hand. It is evident that a great deal of progress has been made throughout the entire ballpark. Following are some highlights from the tour:

°         The steel truss signed by the fans was installed last week. It was placed on the southeastern-most portion of the ballpark and holds up the canopy just above the View Level. Fans might be able to see the truss from the Red Seats of Cinergy Field or from Mehring Way.

°         Diamond Club seating work has begun. This area of seating is located directly behind home plate. It is the last section of seating to be installed. This is because an access path was needed for cranes to drive through to put up the upper levels of the ballpark.

°         Framework for the Longines Clock replica has begun. The clock will be featured on the upper right portion of the main scoreboard.

°         Installation of the primary escalator is in the initial stages. The escalator will be located on the western-most portion of the Reds Administration Building.

·     Great American Ball Park Tourists: Great American Ball Park recently played host to a couple of Reds greats this past month.

°         On June 19, Cincinnati Reds first baseman Sean Casey and a crew from This Week In Baseball toured the Great American Ball Park construction site. Casey talked with workers and tossed a ball with a crewmember around what will be the infield. The episode of TWIB is tentatively scheduled to air at 12:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, June 29 prior to the Fox Game of the Week.

°         On June 14, former Red Pete Rose was escorted around the ballpark construction site. Rose signed autographs and hit a ball pitched by Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune.
