Construction News: Workers continue to make notable progress on all areas of Great American Ball Park. Following are some highlights.

bulletOn August 2, crews emptied the entire field level and cleared off all cranes, trucks and construction materials. Workers now have begun digging up the field for drainage installation.

bulletSeat installation work is on schedule for late January completion. Workers continue to install bolts. More hardware is on schedule to be delivered next week. The actual seats should be delivered by late September.

Fun Fact –The majority of the ball park (95%) will feature Hussey Seating’s “Legend” model. These seats are designed to integrate a traditional looking seat with modern-day advancements. “The Legend” will invoke a nostalgic Crosley Field-era design with the durability and comfort of today. Hussey says that 20% of these seats will be angled 12 degrees towards home plate to improve sight lines.

bulletWork continues on the administration building. Brick work is 85% complete and 20% of the glass is in place. Brick installation at the administration building is on schedule to be completed in late August.

bulletThe Batter’s Eye is starting to take shape. Exterior walls are being installed.

bulletConcrete work on the Reds’ and visitors’ dugouts were completed last week.

Picture Day: On Tuesday August 13 from 3:00-4:00 p.m., the Great American Ball Park project team will host another opportunity for still and video photographers. This month’s Picture Day will give photographers the chance to “shoot” the ball park from an angle previously unseen by the media. Photographers will have the opportunity to see the ball park from the southeastern portion of the outfield, next to the Batter’s Eye facility.

As is with every Picture Day opportunity, note that proper attire is required. Individuals wearing shorts, skirts, open-toed shoes or gym shoes will not be allowed onto the job site. Participants must wear long pants and hard-soled shoes to proceed. Prior to entering, individuals are required to sign a waiver of release. Everyone must wear a hard hat throughout the duration of his or her time in the construction zone. The Project Safety Manager reserves the right to deny entry to anyone not dressed properly for the work site.

Community Displays: The Great American Ball Park traveling display, featuring photographs, renderings and riverfront development information will be on display at the Convergys Center, 600 Vine Street, through August 21.
