Play-By-Play

Construction News: Workers continue to make notable progress on all areas of Great American Ball Park. Following are some highlights:

bulletWorkers are installing the Cincinnati Reds sign atop the northern-most portion of the Reds Administration Building. Each individual letter measures six feet high and two to four feet wide. The sign will weigh approximately 250 pounds and feature a neon light backing. Upon completion of the Cincinnati Reds sign, workers will begin installing the “Rounding Third and Heading For Home” quote band. The quote band will extend atop the northern portion of Great American Ball Park and the Reds Administration Building. Fans downtown will be able to see the completed sign light up Second Street by mid-December.

bulletThe Reds logo was installed atop an elevator shaft along the northeast portion of the ball park, closest to US Bank Arena. The four-foot Reds “C” logo is featured prominently in front of a silver background.

bulletCrews continue to work on the concessions. There will be 28 concession areas in Great American Ball Park. This number includes temporary facilities along the first baseline. Following the 2003 season and completion of the right field concourse, these concession areas will be relocated to permanent structures. This will create an open concourse similar to the one along the third baseline.

bulletWorkers continue to enclose the Batter’s Eye facility. In addition to the black-tinted glass, an advertising board will be installed in the upper right hand corner. This sign will feature a major advertiser between innings and rotate to solid black during play.

Community Display: The Great American Ball Park traveling display, featuring photographs, renderings and riverfront development information, will be on display at the US Bank Tower, 425 Walnut Street, through November 27.

3… 2… 1… There are now 36 days left until the implosion of Cinergy Field. The structure is scheduled for implosion at 8:00 a.m. on December 29.
