Media Briefing: On Monday December 23 at 10:00 a.m., the project team will discuss traffic access and parking plans for the Cinergy Field Implosion. The project team also will detail street closure times, detours and alternate routes. The media briefing will take place in the Parsons Brinckerhoff Board Room, 312 Elm Street, Suite 2500.
 
Construction Schedule Report: On December 16, project managers presented a Great American Ball Park construction schedule update to the Hamilton County Commissioners at the commissioners’ staff meeting.

Key Schedule Items:
 

bulletThe ball park is 90% complete and remains on target for Opening Day 2003 completion. (Phase 1 – substantial completion)
 

bulletThe ball park plaza and parking remain on target for spring 2004 completion. (Phase 2)
 
bulletThe Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame is on schedule for a summer 2004 completion.
 
SBE Numbers Remain Strong: Project managers also released a report outlining the level of Small Business Enterprise participation in the Great American Ball Park project. As of September 30, 2002, a total of 24.7% of all contracted work had been committed to small businesses, which includes any minority- and women-owned businesses that also are classified as small businesses. A further breakdown shows that 11.3% of contracts went to minority-owned businesses and 3.9% to women-owned business enterprises.
 
Safety Update: Through September 30, only eight lost workday incidents were reported for the construction of Great American Ball Park and related projects. Even with these incidents, the project lost workday incident rate stands at 1.2, well below the national average of 5.4. This statistic encompasses nearly 1.4 million hours worked.
 
3… 2… 1… There are now nine days left until the implosion of Cinergy Field. The structure is scheduled for implosion at 8:00 a.m. on December 29.
