Play-By-Play

Construction News: Workers continue to make notable progress on all areas of Great American Ball Park. Following are some highlights:

bulletMosaics: The artwork at Great American Ball Park provides opportunities for fans to tap into the Cincinnati Reds’ rich tradition. This month, mosaic murals depicting two of the most storied and celebrated teams in Reds franchise history are being installed:

The Original Nine: This mosaic draws attention to the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings team. The Red Stockings competed in the first professional baseball game on June 1, 1869. In that game, the Reds Stockings defeated the Mansfield Independents, 48-14. They then went 130 consecutive games without a loss.

The Great Eight: This mosaic will highlight the 1975 World Champion Cincinnati Reds team. Featured are Joe Morgan, Pete Rose, Ken Griffey, Sr., Dave Concepcion, George Foster, Tony Perez, Cesar Geronimo, and Johnny Bench. The ’75 “Big Red Machine” outlasted the Boston Red Sox in seven games to win the World Series.

bulletInterview Room: Interior workers are beginning to furnish the players’ interview room, located next to the Reds’ Clubhouse and complete the finishing touches, such as hanging the Great American Ball Park wallpaper.

bulletHome Run Celebration: Workers continue to install the Cincinnati Reds home run celebration feature, which is nestled between the Sun/Moon Deck and the Batters Eye facility. Currently, two tall towers resembling smoke stacks stand side-by-side and crews are installing the signage between them.
