“Regardless of what method of demolition is selected for Cinergy Field, its parking garage must be taken down by conventional demolition methods” said Arnie Rosenberg, project director for Parsons Brinckerhoff. “Because this is a laborious process, it’s important that we begin as soon as possible.” Over the next few weeks, O’Rourke Wrecking Company crews will begin removing the Cinergy Field parking garage, as well as non-structural components from the stadium, including the non-load bearing masonry walls. Demolition crews also will begin removing portions of the stadium’s seating bowl that are closest to the new Great American Ball Park to increase the space between the two venues and facilitate Cinergy Field’s upcoming demolition. It has not yet been confirmed if the stadium will be demolished through implosion, however the decision is expected to be finalized within the next two weeks.
Following the Cinergy Field parking garage closure, riverfront parking will
be available at the East Garage, Riverfront Lots A, B, C, D and E, and the
Third and Central lot. Additional parking is available at lots located on
Third Street, north of Third Street, along Eggleston Avenue and at Sawyer
Point. |
