Two Days Set Aside for Public Tours

Of Great American Ball Park

Cincinnati, May 2, 2002 –Early next spring baseball fans will have two full days to come to the Cincinnati Riverfront and view the newly constructed Great American Ball Park.

Hamilton County and the Cincinnati Reds today announced that Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23, 2003 have been selected as the dates for the Great American Ball Park open house.

Although exact times have not been finalized, fans can expect the ball park to be open for extensive hours during each of those two days.  Fans will have access to a variety of areas within the new park including the Reds locker room, seating bowl, bullpen overlooks, concourses, the sun deck/moon deck and the bleachers. Tours will be free and open to everyone. Tour guides will be on hand to provide direction, point out the great features of the ballpark and answer any questions.

“Although we are still working out many of the logistical details, we wanted to announce the dates for the open house so that people could be sure to mark their calendars,” said John Allen, Cincinnati Reds chief operating officer.  “We don’t want anyone to miss the opportunity to tour Great American Ball Park.”

“It is important that we give the people of Hamilton County and the region a chance to tour the new park, learn about it’s unique features and see first hand the newest and greatest ballpark in the country,” said Tom Neyer, Jr., president, Hamilton County Board of Commissioners.  “Naturally, we gladly welcome fans from throughout the tri-state area to help us in ushering in a new era in Reds’ history.  They are sure to have a great time.”

Great American Ball Park will be open for the 2003 season.
