2012 Frank F. Ferris II Community Planning Award Winner

The Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission established this award to recognize and honor the lifelong dedication of Mr. Frank F. Ferris II to municipal, county and regional planning activities, and to publicly recognize and promote outstanding contributions to community planning in Hamilton County. The planning award is awarded annually to a local planning commission or planning committee whose efforts have contributed to the elevation of planning principles, greater awareness of the value of planning, and improved quality of life.

The 2012 Frank F. Ferris Award Winner was the Village of Lincoln Heights with the Model Group for the Villas of the Valley Redevelopment Plan.

The Villas of the Valley is an innovative redevedelopment of the historic Valley Homes Mutual Housing Corporation. This redevelopment was performed by the Model Group. The plan resulted in the demolition of funcionally obsolete and dilapidated housing, replacing them with 42 new ranch style, detached senior cottages, 35 two-story attached rental units, and 4 single family detached homes. The Villas of the Valley sought to preserve, revitalize and reinvent a historic landmark in affordable senior housing.
