Cincinnati Area Professionals in Green Infrastructure Network
(CAPGIN)

A new organization dedicated to the promotion of green storm water landscaping practices has been formed to develop and facilitate communication, education and building standards. This professional organization meets the last Wednesday of each month at the "Treetops" meeting room at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. These meetings are open to all professionals in the landscape industry and related fields. For Storm water, Watershed, Water Quality, and Water Resource Professionals

 

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW: The 2009 Ohio Storm water Conference hosted by the Mill Creek Watershed Council of Communities, the Ohio Water Environment Association, the Regional Storm water Collaborative, and the Tinkers Creek Watershed Partners, will provide updates on environmental issues, new technologies, regulatory information and pollution

prevention.

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The conference has been developed by a planning committee comprised of professionals who deal with storm water issues on a daily basis including engineers, consultants, watershed organizations, governmental organizations and academia staff. The conference is intended for engineers, policy makers, scientists, managers, and elected officials throughout Ohio as we look for innovative solutions to common problems relating to storm water management and finance

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS A Certificate of Attendance will be offered to those individuals who request one on the registration form. This certificate, along with a copy of the agenda, will assist individuals needing to document professional development hours for their technical profession. New Manual on Rain Gardens for South West Ohio

You can now access the brand new "Rain Garden Guidelines for Southwest Ohio " manual.

Authors include staff from The Ohio State University, USEPA, the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District. The unique content of this manual includes amending soils that exist in our area and native and non-native plant selections that have all been trialed at the Cincinnati Zoo. 

Residents of Hamilton County may pick up a free copy at our District office. Non-residents will be charged $5.00 or to have a hard copy mailed to you for $6.50. Anyone may download this manual at no charge by going to www.hcswcd.org and click on newsletters and publications in the left hand column. Call 513-772-7645 for more information.

 


Volunteers Needed Throughout The Summer!!

We are always looking for volunteers to help staff booths at public events. All volunteers will be paired with a District employee
