Judge Russell J. Mock

Judge Russell J. Mock was elected to the Ohio First District Court of Appeals in November of 2014. Prior to his election to the Court of Appeals, he served for over ten years on the Hamilton County Municipal Court. Twice, Judge Mock was elected by his colleagues to serve as the Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court. In addition to his regular docket, Judge Mock volunteered to preside over the Hamilton County Housing Court. As part of his work with Housing Court, Judge Mock started a program to help compulsive hoarders in conjunction with Talbert House/Centerpoint Health. Before becoming a judge, he served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office. Judge Mock received his B.A. from the University of Dayton and his J.D. from the Ohio Northern University College of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

Judge Mock is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cincinnati Bar Association and the Ohio Judicial Conference where he serves on the Appellate Law & Procedure Committee. In 2012, Judge Mock was appointed by Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor to serve on the Advisory Committee on Court Security to the Ohio Supreme Court.

Judge Mock has lectured for the Cincinnati Bar Association, The Lawyers Club of Cincinnati and the First District Court of Appeals 2010 Seminar. He is a volunteer for the Cincinnati Bar Association Mock Trial Competition and the University of Cincinnati, College of Law Career Day. Judge Mock also serves on the Grants Committee for the Cincinnati Bar Foundation.
